Ephesians 1:3-14 is packed full of blessings that we, as believers in the gospel, have either received or will receive from the triune God. Below is simply a list of ten of those blessings as well as which person of the trinity they are received from. Let this list act as an encouragment whenever feeling impoverished. We, as believers in the gospel, are the richest on the planet.
1. Every Spiritual Blessing – God the Father, “Blessed be the God and Father…who blessed us with every spiritual blessing” (Eph. 1:3).
2. Holiness – God the Father, “just as He [God the Father] chose us in Him before teh foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him…” (Eph. 1:4b).
3. Sonship – Chosen by God the Father, achieved by God the Son in obedience to God the Father, “He [God the Father] predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself…” (Eph. 1:5a).
4. His Grace – God the Father, “…to the praise of the glory of His [God the Father] grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved [God the Son]” (Eph. 1:6b).
5. Redemption from sin – God the Son, “In Him [Beloved/God the Son] we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses…” (Eph. 1:7a).
6. Knowledge of His will – God the Son, “In all wisdom and insight He [God the Son] made known to us the mystery of His will…” (Eph. 1:9a).
7. A heavenly inheretance – God the Son, “In Him [God the Son] also we have obtained an inheritance…” (Eph. 1:10b-11a).
8. Salvation/Life – God the Son, “In Him [God the Son], you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation…” (Eph. 1:13a).
9. Sealing/Eternal Security – God the Holy Spirit, “…having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise…” (Eph. 1:13b).
10. Down Payment for our Inheritance (#7) – God the Holy Spirit, “…who is given as a pledge [can also be translated as down payment] for our inheritance…” (Eph. 1:14:a).
